Individual DBT sessions are usually held once a week. Clients may participate in individual DBT in addition to a non-skills focused individually therapy and/or DBT group. Individual DBT focuses on teaching DBT skills and helping clients apply them to their particular life circumstances. In individual DBT, the client and therapist will set identify target behaviors and specific goals. DBT uses homework and between session phone contact, when needed, to supplement the work in therapy sessions.
